Thomas Sowell: On Obama's "Cocky Ignorance"

Townhall.com::Cocky Ignorance::By Thomas Sowell

Now that Senator Barack Obama has become the Democrats' nominee for
President of the United States, to the cheers of the media at home and
abroad, he has written a letter to the Secretary of Defense, in a tone
as if he is already President, addressing one of his subordinates.

The letter ends: "I look forward to your swift response."

Click and read the whole thing.

I can see how this would be read as "Cocky Ignorance" given that Obama's sending of the letter implies that he is of authority enough to ask these questions. That being said, I'm not sure that there is a net negative to bringing this subject to light. If as a result of the letter more focus is being put on soldier's mental health I suppose I don't have a problem with it.

I am all for attention being paid to the welfare of our soldiers.
But Senator Obama has been in office for a while now and I bet he has not been quite this high handed with Cabinet officials in the past. More importantly the whole thing is just so blatantly political.

I agree that it is likely something he's doing only because he can then mention it in a speech somewhere. Does kinda get under your skin.
